Abstract

Instrumental teaching is naturally based on applied lessons and master-apprentice relationship. The teaching skill of the teacher improves with respect to her/his teaching experience, besides the theoretical background gained. Instrumental students are usually examined for their physical suitability for the instrument they would like to play. Age is another important criteria especially for the teaching program preparation. By time, teacher discovers the learner’s capabilities and tries appropriate methods of learning. The teacher has to be able to chose and switch between varieties of methods because every learner has different personal qualities.

The aim of this paper is to make suggestions to instrumental teachers in using different approaches for learners of different kinds. These suggestions are based on multiple intelligences theory stated by Howard Gardner. It is assumed that, this theory is applicable in instrumental teaching in many ways.
