Abstract

The role of architecture is to create spaces that meet the needs of users. Architecture of buildings is influenced by behavioural, socio-cultural and physical factors which affect the design, meaning and use of space of individuals and group of people. In view of this, courses that deal with man-environment studies were incorporated into the curricular of schools of architecture to train budding architects in creating environments that will respond to user needs. Using secondary data from literature and curricular of four architectural schools in South-west Nigeria, this paper examines how adequately, students are sensitized, on the relationship between man his environment as an important way of meeting his needs. The study discovered that aspects of Environmental-Behavioural studies were not incorporated into the curricular of the schools investigated.
