EVALUATION OF THE VISUAL ART TEACHING CANDIDATES’ PERCEPTIONS REGARDING THE CONCEPT OF INTERNET: AN EXAMPLE FOR METAPHOR ANALYSİS

Abstract


The purpose of the research study was to determine and analyze the metaphors of the Art Education Teacher Candidates regarding the concept of the Internet.  All the 120  students studying in the Atatürk University Kazım Karabekir of Education Faculty, Department of Fine Arts, Painting Department of Education, in the spring semester of 2013-2014 academic year, consist the study group.  The data were gathered through a form which included the phrase “The Internet is similar to/same as………….. .because ………………………” developed by the researchers. In this scope; process of analyzing and interpretation of developed metaphors of the prospective teachers’ are performed through 3 phases; (1) determination of metaphors (2) classification of metaphors (3) category development.The qualitative data collection methods and phenomenon science design were used.After the data analysis, it was observed that the students generated 84 metaphors. These metaphors were grouped into 8 different categories. According to survey results: in general it can be said that; art education teacher candidates have pozitive perspectives about the internet.
