Abstract

The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has ushered in a new era of innovation across various sectors, including healthcare education. This comprehensive literature review explores the multifaceted role of AI in enhancing the sustainability of healthcare education, a critical need in the face of evolving global health challenges. By systematically analyzing scholarly articles, reports, and case studies, this qualitative review aims to elucidate the ways in which AI technologies—ranging from adaptive learning systems to simulation-based training and data analytics—can contribute to more personalized, efficient, and effective healthcare education. The findings highlight AI's potential to revolutionize traditional teaching methodologies, foster continuous learning, and improve educational outcomes, while also addressing challenges such as ethical considerations, implementation barriers, and the skills gap among educators and healthcare professionals. Furthermore, the review identifies gaps in current research and suggests directions for future exploration, including the development of ethical guidelines for AI use in education, assessment of long-term learning outcomes, and the creation of supportive policies and frameworks. This review contributes to the ongoing discourse on sustainable healthcare education by offering insights into the transformative potential of AI, thus providing valuable implications for educators, policymakers, and institutions aiming to leverage technology for educational advancement.
