Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the usefulness of e-rubrics in the peer assessment of resources and materials in Higher Education, taking into account the work produced by 201 students of the University Degree in Pedagogics at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), during the academic years 2014-15 and 2015-16. These e-rubrics were prepared by students who attended the Information Technologies and Communication subject. Following a methodological framework based on virtual, collaborative action-research, a qualitative analysis is implemented to analyze e-rubrics created by students and their intervention in ad hoc on line discussion forum with a twofold methodological approach: firstly a qualitative analysis of word frequencies in  e-rubrics through the use of Atlas-Ti software and secondly a forum discussion categorization through a reticular, category based social network analysis thanks to UCINET and yED Graph Editor. Among the most relevant conclusions, we can highlight that combination of e-rubrics and discussion forums are two highly interactive and collaborative digital resources and specially beneficial in their application to social studies. Results indicate that the use of e-rubrics optimizes self-assessment, the adequacy of assessment criteria as well as the study of functionality and usefulness in terms of format and connectivity in the audio-visual elements included in digital online resources.
