Abstract


The purpose of this study is to find out perceptions of University students  in relation to the concept of “marriage, family and child” through metaphors. In this study, the case of Science (phenomenology) model, one of the qualitative research model was used. The data was conducted university students, who were contacted randomly and voluntarily participated in the study in 2016-2017 academic year. Research data was collected by means of the form with open ended questions. In order to determine the surveyed university students’ perceptions in relation to the concept of marriage, family and child, they were distributed a form on which is the expression “Mariage is  like ............... ..; because .........................” Family are like ............... ..; because .....................................” Child  is  like ............... ..; because .....................................” and asked to write their opinions. University students who participated the research reported  different metaphors for the concept of “marriage,family and child” .The results were interpreted by considering the characteristics of the participants and the recommendations were presented. As a result, metaphors can be used as a important research tool in understanding and explaining the perceptions of university students towards marriage, family end children.
