Abstract

The aim of the study was to establish the nature of the influence of specially organized lessons on the development of thinking skills of 6 years old children. Experimental group consisted of 127 students,  control group - 131 students. 32 lessons (one lesson per week) based on the author's program "Intellektika"  were held during the school year  in the experimental group. This program is designed for children 6 – 10 years. It includes 32 sets of non-standard tasks with non-curricular content and various difficulty: 8 sets for inferences, 6 sets for comparing and classifying schematic drawings, 9 sets of space-combinatorial problems, 9 sets for passing labyrinths according to the rules. All the tasks had to be solved mentally. In order to solve these problems the child must perform cognitive аctions (reasoning, comparison, combination) and metacognitive onеs (reflection on the way of solving, planning, control, evaluation). Initial and final diagnosis of the  thinking skills  was held in experimental and control groups. Comparison of the results show that children in the experimental group demonstrate higher results  than children of the control group, respectively, 37,4% and 22,1%  (statistically significant differences, p<0.05). The results of the study show that regular lessons based  on the program "Intellektika"  tasks  promotes the development of thinking skills of 6 years old children. The following stages of our work are related to the study of the nature of the influence of lessons on the program "Intellectika" on the development of thinking skills in children 7 – 10 years.
