Guwahati has a rich and diverse range of resources on which to base adventure tourism businesses. Many areas of the province, particularly protected areas such as parks, reserves and more undeveloped rural areas, are ideal for a range of adventure travel opportunities. This study examines opportunities for adventure tourism in Assam with a special focus on the Guwahati region. Data was collected through both an open-ended questionnaire and focus groups. Results of the study indicates that tourists and stakeholders considers Assam to have the potential for adventure tourism, however lack of infastructure and publicity is a major obstacle in the area.

Key Words: Adventure tourism, stakeholders, tourists, Assam and Guwahati.
