Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the opinions of academicians in Turkish music state conservatory about selection of their topics to research. According to this aim, these questions that are below will be asked to participants:
What kind of problems do you have during the selection of the topic to research?
What kind of obstacles do you have during the selection of the topic to research?
What kind of study factors do you have during the selection of the topic to research?
What kind of individual factors you have during the selection of the topic to research?
What kind of external factors do you have during the selection of the topic to research?
What is useful for you during the selection of the topic to research?
Methodology
Research Model
The study will be based on qualitative research approach. Phenomenological design will be used. These type of designs aims to investigate phenomenologies that we don't realized well in our mind (Yıldırım & Şimşek, 2011).
Study Group
The sample of the study is determined by convenience sampling method. This method gives researchers the speed and practicality, and researchers select the state which close and easy to access (Yıldırım & Şimşek, 2011).
Instrument
The research data will be obtained with semi-structured "Research Topic Selection Interview Form". Two academicians reviewed interview form and in accordance with their recommendations, logical and language errors were corrected.
Data analysis
Data will be analyzed with content analysis. Content analysis reveals codes and categories from the raw data (Patton, 2002).
Findings
Findings about each problem will be presented in this section.
Discussions and Recommendations
Results about each problem will be supported with interpretations and literature and finally recommendations will be written according to the findings.
