Abstract

The interconnectedness of humans, animals, and the environment emphasises the importance of balancing the welfare of animals with the need to protect human health and preserve ecosystems. The One Health approach to effectively managing and preventing zoonotic diseases fosters collaboration between various disciplines to ensure all living organisms' well-being. This paper describes and examines the One Health approach to the emergence of zoonotic diseases, such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and Ebola, and their ethical implications on animal use in research and disease prevention.
