Abstract

Abstract

Background

Although  cases of anterior and/or posterior scleritis developing after pterygium surgery are easily seen in the literature, studies indicating  pre-operative pterygium together with anterior scleritis were  rarely produced. Therefore new investigations are needed.

Purpose

To investigate  related cases of Türkiye whether preoperative pterygium is associated with anterior scleritis or not.

Materials and methods

Academic content was obtained from CDSR, DARE, MED LINE, EMBASE, HTA and CRD indices. In the ongoing review, the overlap ratio of selected publications was calculated by CCA.

The theme involved Methodological Analyses, Retrospective Validation Studies, and Multivariate Meta-analysis. Thus, ROBIS tool and GRADE rates  were technically applied. Additionally, data  published on  PubMed, Google Scholar, SCOPUS, WoS, and Google Academic Papers were utilized. Information not only processed from 2015 to 2023, but also will benefit from approaching publications between 2024 and 2027.  The article has been preparing since January 2024 and will have been completed by  four yeas.

Results

This article will comprise a total of pre-operative 125  pterygium cases with appropriate examinations and analysis. The average age of the patients is planned to be between 25 and 60 years. In the 9 months since the beginning of the study, there has been detected a few evidence that  anterior scleritis  might coexist with pre-surgical pterygium in the affected eye. The statistical findings to be achieved as a result of the aimed 4-year research will set the stage for more accurate interpretations.

Conclusions

Despite the fact that ophthalmologists face a few  disadvantages due to difficulties in determining objective criteria, lack of long-term follow-up, presence of third and other additional eye pathologies in selected patients, complexities in determining homogeneous cases, and irregular attendance of patients for examination, these two pathologies might be developed simultaneously or one after another. Consequently, this essay is presented to explore the relationship.
