Abstract
Dental caries is one of the most prevalent and significant oral health problems in the world. Dental caries causes complications that lead to costly and time-consuming treatment. Previous studies have shown that the application of preventive measures and improvement of social environment considerably reduce dental caries rates. In various papers, it is reported that parental knowledge and attitudes toward oral hygiene may have an impact on the formation of their children's oral hygiene habits, the prevalence of oral diseases and dental caries. In addition, it is emphasized that low-education families do not pay enough attention to dental care measures and regular preventive visits to a dental clinic, and this results in the development of dental caries. The aim of this article was to discuss parental attitudes toward their children's dental care and preventive measures used as well as to evaluate their associations with parental education status.
