Bu araştırmanın amacı, Kent’te kadının kent yaşamındaki rolü açısından önemini belirlemektir. Araştırmaya Gazimağusa’da yaşayan 21 gönüllü kadın vatandaş katılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri yarı yapılandırılmış odak grup görüşmesi yolu ile toplanmış, toplanan veriler içerik analizi yolu ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucunda Gazimağusa kentinde kadın olmanın avantajları, dezavantajları, yerel yönetimden istek ve beklentileri ve kentindeki kadının kendini algıladığı rolünün ne olduğu ilişkin görüşleri belirlenmiştir; kentin güvenilir ve özgür bir kent olarak tanımlaması bir avantaj, sunulan sosyal hizmetlerdeki eksiklik ise dezavantaj olarak belirlenmiştir. Yerel yönetimlerde kadına özgü birimlerin oluşturulması, yönetimde temsiliyet ve ekonomik açından eşit söz ve çalışma hakkının verilmesi gerektiği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca kadınların en çok kendilerini kentte eğitimci rolü ile algıladıkları ortaya çıkmıştır.

The Role of the Women in Life: from a Perception of Psyohological, Sociological and Educational View Points

The aim of this study is to identify importance of the role of  women in the town. 21 voluntary women participated to the study. The data were collected through semi-structured focus group interview and the data were analyzed through content analysis. As a result of the study, the advantages and disadvantages of living in the town, expectations from municipality and role of the woman, that they were perceived in the town where they live in,are identified. The advantage of the town is to be safe and freedom; the disadvantage is insufficient social services for women. The expectations are; special units for women, more rights for represent themselves at local governance, finanacial and labour equality.Also educator role is percieved by participants of the study.
