Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop the elementary school teachers’ attitudes towards peer mediation. The validity and reliability studies were conducted. The sample of the study consisted of randomly selected 373 elementary school teachers serving in North Cyprus elementary schools. Within the scope of the scale validity studies, contextual validity was determined, based on specialist opinions. The results of confirmatory factor analysis and the exploratory factor analysis formed the final version of the two dimensions 13-item “Peer Mediation Teacher Training Attitude Scale”. The reliability of the scale was tested by the internal consistency tests, cronbach alpha and split-half method. Reliability of scale general croanbach alpha was calculated as 0.92, croanbach alpha coefficient of Factor I “Peer Mediation” subscale was 0.89 and factor II “Disputes” 0.90 for the sub-dimension. The Item-total correlation coefficients results indicated to be between 0,48 and 0,76. The validity and reliability results of the “Peer Mediation Teacher Training Attitude Scale” yielded satisfactory results which indicate that the scale can be applied in the field.
